Motivation (AKA: TBC)

Now that I’m a few posts into my journey of words I’m still trying to come up with weird and wonderful motivational techniques and wonder how does every other blogger make themselves find the time to sit and write be it typing/on a notepad or however they do it ?

Having studied Business/Economics I know models of motivation theories quite well, but into context they’re really not that helpful (I’m gonna try and not go into essay mode on this and leave it at that). I guess with the world wide web there’s no shortage of motivational speakers/videos/blogs/con-men (and such-like), to the point where everyone is an expert within their own right. They know what works for them.

Which brings me onto my main point. Depending on which point you’ve picked this up you’ll either have only had the luxury of seeing only A – D (With ‘D’ finishing with Diamond RIo) or you’ll have seen the sheer quantity of my task ahead with the rest of the alphabet and related artists with a ‘TBC’ next to it. Now this isn’t ‘to be confirmed’ it’s ‘to be completed‘.

So yes you might’ve guessed by now, I’m going with the goal-setting theory … may or may not work who knows all I know is I’m pandering to my OCD in that if i see something uncompleted I have to finish it. Big examples of this are my video game experiences (mostly 100% completion).

So according to all this my next task is ‘Dream Theater’. So looks like you’re all going to have to come back periodically and see if much changes.

On a side note recently posted the 20 most inspirational songs of all time (and seeing this is a blog priamrily about music).

No.12 off of their list; Survivor – The Eye of The Tiger

My Grandad

Today is what would’ve been my Grandad’s 79th Birthday.

And although already a major influence on who I am what I listen to and how I portray things I think he’s had a larger influence since passing away last March. Since then I’ve inherited over 300 records – and yes I mean vinyl records. As well as another 200 + CD’s. This man loved his music. For this I thank him for it.

Always fond memories of listening to a crooning Sinatra/Crosby Mid Sunday Afternoon and perhaps a jazzed up Glen Miller/Big Band evening experience.

So here’s to you Grandad, a large glass of whiskey and some of your favourite songs to take me through today and life because you knew a song for every occassion.

So I give you Moon River by Danny Williams:

In all my worldly years (not a great number I’m only 22 and counting) I have never really considered why I’ve written wierd and wonderful things regarding things that happen during life or why I’ve mixed it into a world of music that quite frankly has never come to fruition. I love my Music ranging from Classical 1700′s all the years through to 2013 and via a variety of genres and through my time I’ve written items that can be considered poetic/lyrical/analytical.

So this is really just mind wandering through past/present/future writings and where influences have come from. Be it my own observations of music/life or recommendations from friends/family influences.

So hopefully I can encourage people to listen to some new artists and perhaps go through their own back-catalogues and see if they can rediscover those gems that define who they are today.

PS: And for the truly barmy – Anybody who wants to re-hash my ‘lyrics’ and put music to them :P
